What your project is about? My project is a three-dimensional model which I did in my Basic Design course. It is about the Siamese Tower which was designed by the architect Alejandro Aravena in 2003 and it was built two years later.
Client and context This building is the headquarter of the Computing Department of the Catholic University, located in Santiago, Chile.
Concept, Purpose and needs This building has 10 floors and a groundfloor. It splits into two parts from 8th floor. It takes a "Y" form because its design required the need to incorporate an empty space between their facades and internal structures. Also, this empty space avoids or minimizes the overheating of this building because of the computers.
Materials and Structure
The base of this building is constituted by stairs and ramps which communicate its internal part with its external part and they are made of wood and asbestos cement. Also, its facades are made of glass while its interior structures are made of reinforced concrete.
